A dedication to my mother, Rose. May her crochet garden always bloom.
On August 3, 2021, my mother, Rose, died from a rare disease called Creuzfeldt-Jakob Disease. It was a challenging few months, from frequent hospital visits, physical therapy sessions, and home hospice care. My sister and I faced the most challenging truth: our mother would no longer be with us physically. In fact, our parents have flown off to only exist in the stars and in our hearts.
Before my mother died, she laughed and was the most positive person I’d ever known. She motivated me to be the best person I could be. She showed me the world and that it could be a beautiful place if I wanted it to be. With that, she taught me the very craft I’m using to try and make a living. My mother was an amazing crocheter. When I told her I’d decided to crochet for a living, she supported me 100% and even offered to help if I received many orders. We would message each other on social media and show our projects to each other. One day, she told me I’d surpassed her when I started making amigurumi toys and purses. I still believe she’s the Crochet Queen because she made blankets amazingly. She had such patience too!
I decided to name my crochet line, Rose’s Garden, and products after my mother. I would not have learned how to crochet if it weren’t for her. She showed me how to do this beautiful work, and now I want to make her proud by sharing my crafts with all who would love to own them.
